January 25-29th brought Camp GLOW 2016 to 53 incredible girls. I had the honor of co-directing this week of girl’s empowerment up in the northern mountains of Nicaragua. At camp, the girls learned how to stand up for themselves, their rights, and their dreams. With a Spanish version of “Fight Song” as our anthem, workshops about sharing power in relationships, goal setting, HIV/Aids and pregnancy prevention, and redefining ideas of beauty, all combined with the magic power of camp songs, games and fun, this week was the week of a lifetime.
While I hope to write up my own account when I get a chance in the next few weeks, if you want more stories, pictures, videos, and lessons learned, head to the GAD Nicaragua blog. There you can read about getting the girls to camp, what the girls wanted to learn, and more as we’ll be sharing about Camp GLOW for the next few weeks!
When it comes to “Girls Leading Our World,” these 53 are now ready to take on whatever life throws their way. I can’t wait to see where their journeys take them.
