Peace Corps Week: March 1-7, 2015
Peace Corps Week commemorates President Kennedy’s establishment of the Peace Corps on March 1, 1961. During this annual event, the Peace Corps community celebrates all the ways that Peace Corps makes a difference at home and abroad and renews its commitment to service.
Each year in March, Peace Corps celebrates it’s birth and the peace and friendship still being shared around the globe. Through Peace Corps festivals, an annual video contest (your votes are needed!), and video chats with current PCVs, Peace Corps supports learning and cultural exchange between PCVs in posts and all of you on the home front.
Andrew and I didn’t get to site in time to feel comfortable enough to submit a video for the contest, but we sure hope to for next year. For now, we’re enjoying learning about posts around the world. It’s incredible how similar and different all of our experiences are. We’re thankful every day for the incredible opportunity to live this crazy Peace Corps life: exploring and learning about another culture, providing needed professional development opportunities to host country nationals, sharing who we are as estadounidenses with the people we meet, and then getting to share little parts of all of this with all with you.
