  2. I feel a need for certainty but have learned there are some things that have to be left to faith. For me, it is the worry, the knowledge, that with high probability I will outlive my twin sons who have severe special needs. I am the mama, the one who knows how they like things, the one that knows their schedule, the one, the one, the one. I used to worry every single day “what will happen to them after I’m gone; they won’t understand, where will they live, who will take care of them” and on and on. It wasn’t uncertainty as much as fear. I felt a similar fear last month when my 8 year old daughter had emergency life saving surgery. And then the epiphany comes: God does not want us to live in fear; he wants us to live in peace. Peace is the opposite of fear. And with that, I am able to let go of that need for certainty within myself because I can be okay with not being in control of everything, because God is. I know of no one else more qualified for the job.
